About the PS: Large System

About the PS: Large System

1. What Can the PS: Large Run at the Same Time?

W

ith the twin 6 kW inverters (same as the PS: Medium and PS: Mega), the PS: Large system will supply 12 kW of continuous AC power, or approximately 50 amps.

As a larger system, it’s suited to those households who want to use a hot water heat pump for hot water (very efficient compared to a normal hot water cylinder), as well as electric hob and oven.

Other examples could include a heat pump for space heating, a clothes dryer or other high-draw appliances, provided their combined power demand stays within the inverter’s capacity.

When we design your system, we assess the combined AC load you’re likely to have running at the same time. Your PS: Large system is limited to 50 amps. This is still a decent amount, but appliance selection needs careful thought.

When we speak, we’ll know if the PS: Large with twin 6 kW inverters is the correct starting point for your situation or whether a different configuration, such as the PS: Mega+ system with four inverters and 100 amps is more appropriate.

2. How Much Battery Storage Does the PS: Large include?

T

he base PS: Large system is a step up from the PS: Medium system with 6 batteries and 19.2 kWh of usable battery storage.

When we talk, we’ll complete your Load Evaluation. From that we’ll have a good idea of the final battery bank size which needs to provide you with suitable backup power from May to August.

The system can manage nine batteries so there is room for expansion, if needed.

3. What’s the Minimum Number of Solar Panels?

T

he PS: Large Base System starts with 20 × 430 W solar panels, providing 8.6 kW of solar capacity.

We’ll assess your winter electricity use, the actual sunshine conditions in your area and panel orientation so we can see if extra panels are needed to generate enough power during the lower-sunshine months.

The system can accommodate up to 28 × 430 W panels, providing approximately 12 kW of solar capacity and room to expand if your electricity needs increase over time.

4. Frequently Asked Questions

1. What’s included in the starting price?

The starting price includes the complete PS: Large base system, including the inverters, six batteries, 20 solar panels, mounting equipment, electrical protection and our pre-assembled and tested equipment cabinets.

Freight, generator and installation are additional because these need to be calculated for your particular situation.

2. How much does installation cost?

We can provide an estimated installation cost based on your system and location. This is confirmed following a Technical Site Visit, when our installer checks the property, cable routes, equipment locations and proposed solar array.

The PS: Large base system gives us a good starting point for estimating installation costs, but every site is different.

3. Do I need a backup generator?

Yes, we recommend an approved auto-start generator as part of a reliable off-grid system due to New Zealand’s latitude and unique climate. It provides backup during consecutive dark winter days and automatically starts when required.

4. What support do I get after installation?

You have ongoing support from Power Station after your system is installed, including system monitoring and assistance if something isn’t working as expected. We also manage the product warranties associated with your Power Station system.
