About the PS: Large System
About the PS: Mega House System
1. What Can the PS: Mega Run at the Same Time?
ith twin 6 kW inverters (the same configuration as the PS: Large), the PS: Mega House system provides 12 kW of continuous AC power, equivalent to approximately 50 amps.
As a larger system, it is suited to households that want to use a heat pump for hot water, which is very efficient compared with a conventional hot water cylinder, as well as an electric hob and oven.
When designing your system, we assess the combined AC load you’re likely to have running at the same time. The PS: Mega is limited to 50 amps. While this provides a substantial amount of power, your choice of appliances and how they are used together still needs to be considered.
When we speak, we’ll establish whether the PS: Mega with twin 6 kW inverters is the right starting point for your situation, or whether a different configuration, such as the PS: Mega+ with four inverters and 100 amps, would be more appropriate.
2. How Much Battery Storage Does the PS: Mega Include?
he PS: Mega is a step up from the PS: Large system, with eight battery modules providing 25.6 kWh of usable battery storage. It’s designed for larger homes with all-electric appliances and higher-than-average off-grid electricity consumption over 24 hours.
Once we’ve spoken with you and completed your Load Evaluation, we’ll have a good indication of the battery capacity required to cover your estimated daily electricity needs between May and August.
The system can accommodate up to nine batteries, leaving room to add one more module later if needed.
3. What’s the Minimum Number of Solar Panels?
he PS: Mega starts with 28 × 430 W solar panels, providing approximately 12 kW of solar capacity. This is the maximum solar array size supported by the twin-inverter configuration.
We’ll assess your winter electricity consumption, local sunshine conditions and panel orientation to determine whether this configuration can generate enough power during the lower-sunshine months.
4. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What’s included in the starting price?
The starting price includes the complete PS: Mega House system, including the inverters, eight batteries, 28 solar panels, mounting equipment and DC cabling. Pre-installed in steel cabinets and tested in our Auckland factory.
Freight, generator and installation are additional because these need to be calculated for your particular situation.
2. How much does installation cost?
We can provide an estimated installation cost based on your system and location. This is confirmed following a Technical Site Visit, when our installer checks the property, cable routes, equipment locations and proposed solar array.
The PS: Mega system gives us a good starting point for estimating installation costs, but every site is different.
3. Do I need a backup generator?
Yes, we recommend an approved auto-start generator as part of a reliable off-grid system due to New Zealand’s latitude and unique climate. It provides backup during consecutive dark winter days and automatically starts when required.
4. What support do I get after installation?
You have ongoing support from Power Station after your system is installed, including system monitoring and assistance if something isn’t working as expected. We also manage the product warranties associated with your Power Station system.
