About the PS: Tiny System
About the PS: Tiny House System
1. What Can the PS: Tiny House Run at the Same Time?
he PS: Tiny House system has a single 6 kW inverter, delivering 6 kW of continuous AC power (approximately 25 amps). This is the base configuration from which we design your system.
It’s intended for a small home or cabin with relatively modest electricity requirements. Cooking, hot water and heating would need alternative energy sources, such as gas or solid fuel from a wood burner.
The system can power everyday appliances, including a fridge-freezer, washing machine, water pump, microwave, jug, toaster, laptops, LED lighting and other small electrical items.
An important consideration is how many appliances you expect to use simultaneously. We assess their combined AC load rather than simply counting the appliances you want to power.
This allows us to determine whether the PS: Tiny is suitable for your situation or whether a different system configuration would be more appropriate.
2. How Much Battery Storage Does the PS: Tiny Include?
he PS: Tiny base system includes two 3.2 kWh battery modules, providing a total of 6.4 kWh of usable battery storage.
The amount of storage you require depends on your daily electricity consumption and when that electricity is used. We’ll assess both during your Load Evaluation.
From there, we can determine whether the two batteries supplied with the PS: Tiny are sufficient for your needs or whether the battery bank size should be adjusted.
3. What’s the Minimum Number of Solar Panels?
he PS: Tiny House system starts with six 430 W solar panels, providing 2.58 kW of solar capacity as a minimum.
We’ll consider your winter electricity use, local sunshine conditions and panel orientation to determine whether additional panels are needed to generate enough power during the lower-sunshine months.
The system can accommodate up to 14 × 430 W panels, giving you approximately 6 kW of solar capacity and room to expand if your electricity needs increase.
4. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What’s included in the starting price?
The starting price includes the complete PS: Tiny base system, including the inverter, two batteries, 6 solar panels, mounting equipment, electrical protection and our pre-assembled equipment cabinets.
Freight, generator and installation are additional because these need to be calculated for your particular situation.
2. How much does installation cost?
We can provide an estimated installation cost based on your system and location. This is confirmed following a Technical Site Visit, when our installer checks the property, cable routes, equipment locations and proposed solar array.
The PS: Tiny House base system gives us a good starting point for estimating installation costs, but every site is different.
3. Do I need a backup generator?
Yes, we recommend an approved auto-start generator as part of a reliable off-grid system due to New Zealand’s latitude and unique climate. It provides backup during consecutive dark winter days and automatically starts when required.
4. What support do I get after installation?
You have ongoing support from Power Station after your system is installed, including system monitoring and assistance if something isn’t working as expected. We also manage the product warranties associated with your Power Station system.
